So What Wednesday

Linking up after a little hiatus with Mrs. Dew at Life After I "Dew" for a little So Whatting...

So WHAT if...

  • I took a hiatus. I mean, really, it's been hard to focus on...oh! something shiny!...what was I saying?
  • I am back because I got called out by my cupcake kindred spirit Caitlyn? She sees these So Whats as a herald to the weekend and we all know that sometimes it's the little things that get us through the week.
  • I am obsessed with acquiring a house on Chesapeake Bay? Legit straight out of Wedding Crashers. I know that it was filmed there, but damn, crab cakes and football IS what Maryland does. (Or in my case, crabs and dock-side sitting.)
  • The only way I could get through my Google Reader was marking all as read? Sometimes, I can't get through everything and, let's be honest, all 500+ posts I was behind on are not all that captivating.
  • I clearly wasn't talking about you, reader of my blog? I mean, of course I read every one of your posts regularly, even though I sometimes am left speechless as to comments.
  • I read over 1200 pages in less than a week? Thanks to the Fifty Shades series, I had to read it. If you're reading this and we're related by blood or marriage, please never acknowledge that you know that I read these or tell me that you have even looked at the synopsis. If we aren't related in any way, READ THEM. You're welcome.
  • I am beyond excited to move in a month? I know, it's moving and it will suck big time and I will complain, but the place is amazing and I get my bed of awesome from Colorado.

Lazy

Every time that I disappear from the blogosphere, it's not because I'm dead (obvio), but rather that I can't think of much to write, am living life, and possibly lurking on all the other blogs I read. It's what happens.

Here's what's happening as of late and whenever I get around to uploading pictures from my camera and iPhone, I will give you better posts, but for now, you'll have to deal with this lazy post.

  1. I went to Dallas to see my padre y madre dos and went to the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. It was awesome. That will get its own post.
  2. I saw the space shuttle Discovery get a piggyback ride from a 747 with an F-18 escort over the White House. (It's restricted air space, so this was a BIG deal. Not that flying a space shuttle on the back of an airplane isn't a big deal, but you get the point.)
  3. I am on the hunt for a pair of gold heels for my friend's wedding in September. You might think that this task would be easy, but I'm like freakin' Goldilocks. Some heels are too tall, some are too short. Some gold is too trashy, some isn't gold enough. Some are formal enough, some are for the beach. I need to find the perfect fit. Literally and figuratively. Wish me luck.
  4. I cannot believe that we picked the one weekend all of the oncologists are going to be in Chicago for a bachelorette party. It was a little hairy to get a hotel room, much less four...which is now two, but let's not go there.
  5. I am really horrible at checking my PO Box. So much so that I have to set a reminder at the office to go check it. Which I inevitably ignore because I'm busy. Or it's cold out. Or too hot out. Or I just don't care enough.
  6. I've become a heated, frothed milk snob for my coffee. And it doesn't help that the office got a Nespresso. It's a sick addiction.
  7. I had a major minor freak out about getting grey hair this weekend. So, much luscious shade of chocolate hair is not my natural color. I'm more of a dirty blonde, I think. (I haven't let me hair get out growth of any measure for the last 15 years.) Well, in the atrocious lighting of my bathroom, it looked like I had a patch of grey hair coming in. Not a hair or two, but a patch. Yeah. Had to make sure that was the light playing tricks on me. And thank little baby Jesus, I just need a root touch-up.

So What Wednesday

You know it's been busy slash I have writers block slash I'm too lazy when it's been weeks since my last post and I get back into the blogging with a well-timed link up with Shannon at Life After I "Dew" and say so what.

So WHAT if...

  • This is the first post in a while? Whatever. It's quick and to the point.
  • I whined a little this morning when I punctured my thumb with a bobby pin? That thing hurt and bled like a mother trucker. My bathroom looked like a murder scene.
  • I laughed so hard I cried and snorted this morning in the office? This is totally worth it when you're having a bad day. Click it. Trust me. You're welcome.
  • I've had the most random songs stuck in my head? Sanford & Son, Mr. Sandman, Somebody That I Used to Know. And that's just what ran through my head while writing this.
  • I haven't really blogged since nothing more than 140 characters has struck me? I mean, there are some things that I could probably expand upon, but whatever. Refer to my third slash above.
  • I am pissed I didn't get anything from Rue LaLa's Lilly boutique? Like, legit infuriated that I couldn't click fast enough. I mean, did they only have one of each? Seesh.
  • I cannot believe how much yoga affects my sleep patterns? Seriously, y'all. I have some amazing sleep whenever I practice yoga. When I don't, I toss and turn. Who knew?
  • I am now a coffee snob? A co-worker brought in a milk frother and my life is forever changed. Seriously. Just frothing the milk makes the coffee taste SO MUCH BETTER. Try it.
  • I am plotting my summer travels? It's never too early. So far, I have Chicago for a bachelorette, but I'm thinking Vegas needs me there. And maybe the Jersey Shore to witness that shit show first hand.
  • I am beyond excited to get to Dallas next week? The padre y madre dos are settled in and I can wear my cowboy boots all the time.
  • I am BEYOND beyond excited for the NASCAR race next Saturday? The padre y madre dos life a couple of miles from Texas Motor Speedway. Let's go racing!!!!
  • I'm a Denny Hamlin fan? Legit hottie and he does the Dougie. I think that'll be my opener, "Teach me how to Dougie."
  • I'm also a Brad Keselowski? He tweets. During races. A man after my own social media heart.
  • I am now needing to make a packing list for my Texas trip? Otherwise, packing is going to get out of control.

Best. Planner. Ever.

I'm brilliant. Let's just get it out there. When it comes to mastering life, I've got it.

Yeah. Right.

Considering this is the second year in a row that I have managed to be moving over birthday weekend, I win the prize.

You see, this time last year, I was freaking out, packing, lining up furniture, carefully planning my arrival to DC to start my contract. I thought I was so smart to push back my start date to be after my birthday so I wasn't spending my birthday in a new city, potentially by myself.

Well, that didn't happen because I have great friends here. Hence why this year, I'm equally pissed that I'm moving again. I would love to stay in my apartment, but the gravy train has ended and the rent is too rich for my blood. Thankfully this move is just like the move to DC and it's predominately clothes. (Oh and lots of shoes.)

Granted I need to make it fit into suitcases, find a stray box (or six), but should be a lot easier since I'm not actually moving furniture.

Bonus points for me, too, since I finally figured out the hose attachment on my vacuum so I can use Space Bags to make more things fit!

Here's to Space Bags, Goodwill donations, and celebrating all at once. Also, let's hope for zero to moderate hangover as I get my stuff packed and out the door.

Friday Fancies

I know I have been remiss in my posting, but I have a lot of pieces that I am coveting as Spring starts to sprung here in DC.

First, I have a goal to have a solid Sperry Angelfish tan line on my feet before the Spring Equinox on March 21. I would say I'm almost there!

For now, though, I will be coveting and acquiring my spring/summer wish list.

Blush/Seersucker Sperry Angelfish.
ACQUIRED.

Patent Navy Sperry Cunard Wedge
COVETING.

Modalu Pippa Bag in Black or Shark (pictured).
COVETING.

Totes Nauts Tee from Anthropologie.
ACQUIRED

Duffel, Large Cosmetic, and Pocket Cosmetic from Vera.
ACQUIRED.
The Modalu will be a long-time covet as it is around 200 GBP plus shipping, plus import and customs fees. Unless I convince someone on the Continent to bring one back with them.

Happy hunting and happy Friday!!

My Furbaby Turns Six!

My furbaby, Harry turns SIX today!!

From this Christmas 2011

Granted, my buhbbies (pronounced bub-bees) has been with his Great Grandma for the past year, he's still my furbaby with so much personality and snuggles that it makes my heart hurt that he's not here in DC with me. His life is pretty sweet being spoiled by my Grandma.

He begrudgingly gets up around 8:00am to be walked by my mom, then retires back to bed to be awoken like Lucifer in Cinderella around 9:30am for his breakfast. Which is a freshly cooked egg from my Grandma. (Her choice because it's "good for his coat") I should also mention that his breakfast is supplemented by a portion of my Grandma's breakfast, too.

The remainder of the day is spend finding various places around the house to nap. There's sunshine spots, on top of any human in reach, his two-thirds of my Grandma's king size bed. She's happy to have him close, but would just as soon move to the other part of the bed before moving him. He's a complete spoiled prince.

I know that he will be spoiled with extra love today, too. When I called to catch up with my Grandma, her first thing was, "Do you know what tomorrow is? Harry's birthday." He's made the family perpetual calendar.

Happy birthday buhbie. Mama misses you!

Great googly moogly.

What? I didn't rip apart my toy. He puked.

Harry with his ladies, Peach and Eva.

Hiking at Chautauqua

Four months old. July 2006

That's my knee under his chin. I told you he snuggles.

Precious puppy snuggles.

He didn't like the mohawk cut.

Avid sports fan.

With his best buddy, my 90 year-old Grandma.

Ready for the snow.

He liked to ride around with my Grandpa when he was alive.

First Halloween as a dinosaur. Rawr.

Oh Where Oh Where Has My Little Blog Gone?

As of late, I can really only muster thoughts that would translate into 140-characters-or-less. And even then, twitter doesn't see my inner dialogue as it has in the past. I think this is because I have been a little less than inspired in my writing.

I plan on blogging a little more as I am starting to get into a groove that I like. I think it will come down to writing and scheduling posts more often than not, but that's what blogging is for...just talking when you want to and need to express yourself.

Also, I think I want to be a blonde again. Discuss.
